How to prepare
Make sure you are well rested before your appointment.
You will find it easier to get tattooed if you eat a good meal before hand and are well hydrated.
Make sure your skin is in good condition, if you show up with sunburn we will most probably not be able to tattoo you. If you have a psoriasis flare up (or another skin condition) please let us know, we may need to reschedule you.
Wear something comfortable. Tattoo ink is hard to get out of clothing, we would recommend wearing darker colours and something that won’t get in the way of the area you are getting tattooed. If you get cold easily bring a jumper.
What to bring
Please bring your ID - YOU WILL NOT GET TATTOOED WITHOUT A VALID ID - this is a requirement for our insurance and there are no exceptions to this rule.
If possible we prefer cash payments, but we can accept card payments too.
You are welcome to bring snacks and a beverage in with you.
If you get cold easy bring a jumper, we usually have the air-conditioning on as some people get quite warm when getting tattooed (you can always put more clothes on, but warmer clients can only take so much off).
You will need to fill in a consent form, if you need glasses to read please bring them.
What NOT to bring
Your mates, mum, dad, girlfriend or boyfriend, pet, cousin, barista.
Please show up to your appointment alone. You would not bring friends along to your dental appointment! Too many people in our studio becomes and OH&S issue and we do not allow plus ones. Please be considerate of your artist, they will be making a life-long artwork for you to wear forever and they will not appreciate you bringing along someone that may get in their or another artists way. If you need a support person with you please let us know so we can organise our space accordingly, as we are a small studio this may mean your appointment will only be available on certain days/times.
General Questions
How do I make a booking
If you know what you want, complete an enquiry form on our website and we will get back to you.
If you don’t know what you want you can still put through an enquiry and we can get back to you to organise a consultation with an artist. You are welcome to pop by the studio too, we are happy to chat, it just might take us a bit if we are in the middle of tattooing. We can talk on the phone too!
We require a booking fee to secure our tattoo appointments.
Do you take walk-ins?
If we have time of course! You’re best bet is to give us a call to see if we can fit you in.
Do you do cover ups?
Yes, we are happy to do cover ups. Often it is best to book a consultation to discuss this as they are more difficult and there are more considerations that need to be made. Please keep in mind that to cover a tattoo you will need a larger and darker design.
Can you tattoo over a scar?
Usually yes, if it is properly healed. It is best to pop into the studio or make an appointment for a consultation.
Do you tattoo under 18s with parents permission
Whilst it is legal, we do not tattoo people under the age of 18. We think it is better to wait! You are welcome to make a booking that is on or after your 18th birthday.
Does it hurt?
Yes, but it is not unbearable. Different spots hurt more than others. Larger tattoos take a bigger toll on your body. We do not recommend numbing cream, if you would like to use one you should discuss this with your doctor or a pharmacist as there can be complications depending on your overall health.
Booking fees
To secure our appointments we take a non-refundable $100 booking fee, this goes towards the cost of your appointment. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours notice your booking fee is used to cover our cancellation costs and you will be required to pay another to re-book.
We do not refund booking fees for a change of mind.
Consultation appointments are free of charge.
Unless it is specifically stated otherwise in writing, if you have not paid a booking fee you do not have a booking. Bookings made that are waiting on a booking fee will expire in 48 hours if no funds are received.
Pricing
Please refer to artist profiles to see specific artists rates, prices will vary between artists. For a quote, please complete our enquiry form, or pop into the studio for a chat. Generally we charge $220/hour. As a very rough guide a small tattoo, for example an infinity symbol the size of a 10 cent piece would cost $200, a simple palm size tattoo would cost $250-350, a hand sized tattoo could be around $450-650. Larger or highly detailed designs are priced per hour or on application. Our absolute minimum charge is $200.
Extra fees
Re-drawing fees - if you provide a brief and make last minute changes or request something else that was not discussed whilst making your booking you may need to pay a re-drawing fee. This can range from $100-200. If there is something you want in your tattoo, please mention it when you are making the booking or at least a few days beforehand. (In example, if you ask for a tattoo of snake, then show up and say that you meant a snake and a dagger, this is an entirely different tattoo and may be subject to a re-drawing fee).
Cancellation fees - if you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours notice your booking fee is used as a cancellation fee. If you wish to re-book after this you will need to pay another booking fee
If you book for an entire day, there will be a minimum charge that must be met regardless of you completing the entire booking. This varies from artist to artist, but the studios minimum is $1200
Payments
We always prefer cash but we can also take card payments. Booking fees can be made with cash, bank transfer or card payments (we can accept deposits and voucher purchases over the phone too).
There is an ATM down the street from us at the pharmacy and the Post Office next door does cash out for some banks (pretty much everything but ANZ…)
